Last day pics

the hot tub finally worked on the last night at the house, no refunds were offered this morning when i turned the keys in... they said it was 'circumstances beyond their control" well.... we shall see when they have their rentals firebombed mysteriously by a band of hired midgets.... and we will send them an anonymous letter saying it was due to "circumstances beyond OUR control".

One regret from this trip: not having two houses.... it was a lot better having a quiet haven to run to... also not having more time to spend with the relatives.... so next year me and Jen are going to get a condo for us, and anyone else that wants to come can set up a 'party house' for themselves. you live and you learn.

The beach was amazing, the waves were getting crazy yesterday, just in time for some body surfing and rip-tide-ish surf.

We gave up on the alligator search and instead ate some alligator bites at the Daquiri Deck.

I hope everyone found what they were looking for when they decided to join us on this trip, some got more than they bargained for, others got less. But we are all going home happy and tired and ready for work again.

More pics still coming as we make the trek home....

Almost the last night

our trip is winding down.... we saw some dolphins today out near the drawbridge, on the way to get rental cars for some of the guests... still crappy phone service too, but who needs phones at the beach anyway? lots of houses being built or upgraded here on the Key. Looked for alligators again last night at 2am, nothing but some flying fish.

two more pics

Went to the beach again today, a lot hotter than yesterday... relaxed a bit on the couch... big dinner tonight at Siesta Oyster Bar.... we thought we found an alligator last night but it turned to be a floating evil destructive, terrible, pepsi bottle..... After a half hour of gasping at the horrible creature, we realized that we were mistaken and it was probably some local using it as a bobber to catch fish, or tourists in our case.

New pictures from May 14th - Manatee!

A manatee visited us, it floated up to the dock and started eating the bushes dangling in the water. The rain came last night around 1am. It hasn't let up yet, so I think we are going to see a matinee at AMC theaters over on Beneva.... Right now I'm using free wifi at The Speakeasy right across from the beach as the storm rolls on. Cell phones didn't work yesterday at all, it said 'Network Busy', the locals claim this happens all the time, there is even rumours of a 'weekly security check' on landlines down here. A Strange place in strange times. And hurricane season is upon us.

Oh yeah, I cooked some delicious mushroom eggs and swiss cheese this morning, that picture was from that.

tapping in

well im tapping into a free wifi spot on thekey from my
laptop... the battery is dying... another crazy day here..
Andrew broke the pool net today trying to save the frisbee
from the trees surrounding the canal... pictures will be
put up tomorrow... its getting hot and sticky.

Pics from the first two days

The place is amazing, no rooftop pool like we thought though.... but oh well, we have alligators in the canal lagoon behind our place so that makes up for it. And sweet sweet fruit rats and fruit rat traps blanketing the perimeter so were fine. Verdell is keeping us safe by guarding us from the little patio lizards.

at Lake Wales [2 new pics]

We made it to Lake Myers

we made it... safe and sound... tons of construction on 27 south past the exit for Disney, more people driving like zombies, brand new houses for half of what we paid for our house.... lots of abandoned fields.... oh yeah we stopped at Moody AFB very briefly just to get cheap gas.

we leave for Sarasota at 8am tomorrow morning [on may 13th]

Sleepy road ravaged

This picture was a strange sight on the ground behind the jeep, an anarchy symbol out of twigs and a bat wing out of a leaf.

Time for sleep, we will try to wake at dawn to continue down to Jen's mom's place in Lake Wales Florida. Rumours of smoke closing off Highway 95 isnt going to stop us. UFOs touching down in the sweet serene waters of the Bermuda Triangle is going to cause another major hurricane, or so says www.rense.com... the web trash found these days on the internet is mind boggling... quite literally.

We had a busy day eating at a place called Choo Choos and a delicious mexican place for lunch called La Fiestas... its sad that American tourism has degenerated to trips to good restaurants and a wider gut line. Hopefully we find something out of the ordinary tomorrow on the way.

Terrorizing Alligators in Florida?

MIAMI, Florida (Reuters) -- An alligator grabbed and killed a Florida woman who disappeared while jogging near a canal, a medical examiner determined Thursday.
Construction workers found the woman's dismembered body floating Wednesday in a canal in Sunrise, a northwest suburb of Fort Lauderdale.
An autopsy showed she died of bleeding and shock from alligator bites. (Watch as police hunt for the killer -- 1:20)

jeez I guess we better watch out for those canals... there is one right behind our beach house...

Parked in Georgia

Discussion about the 'bad drivers'

There have been some questions raised concerning the identities of who these bad drivers are, do they fall into a certain demographic? Are they all over 80 and waiting to die in a firery flamin car crash going 20 mph on an interstate..? I would say definitely not. Most of the bad driving involved meth-head maniacs driving erratically, merging into traffic and cutting off trailer trucks, forcing the trailer trucks to choose between moving into the fast lane [and smashing the cars in that lane] or biting the bullet and stomping on the air brakes until they almost jackknife their rigs.

Of course, specifically in South Carolina, which is notorious for it's religious freaks and wackos, almost every case of bad driving involved people going the EXACT SPEED LIMIT in the left lane and right lane, thus blocking any impetus to forge ahead past their quiet struggle with their personal highway Gods, which somehow takes the form of three crosses along the roads and near gas stations... the center one being taller than the rest. I always thought that stood for the Babtist church, but then I realized I was an ignorant Russian Orthodox, so what did I know.... all I could do was speculate.

Lastly, the other bad drivers were the older men driving their1990ish full size luxury trucks with the custom caps on the back... cruising down the highway to their probable retirement complexes and sheik motels and sleazy waitresses... they all thought they were going real fast at 75 mph until when we would pass them going 80 mph, they would of course speed up and raise a ruckus as they tried to save the last shred of their manhood from days gone by. Too bad they always failed. They didn't realize the Campbells were behind the wheel.

It's a battle out there on the interstate, but we came prepared with last years knowledge of the road, even some of the hot spots where the coppers like to hide and spy. Even where to get the cheapest gas [ right across the border into South Carolina in the middle of no where - never stop for gas where there are restaurants also - this always means higher prices at the pump... but we should expect this right? War changes everything even administrations attitudes on conservation of natural resources...] oops I think I'm asking for too much there.

Good luck and Good night
